Men’s Golf Starts Challenging Season
Last week the Varsity Golf Team took part in their first tournament at a challenging La Torretta golf course.
“It’s a long course and tests all aspects of your game. On Saturday the wind blew pretty hard which added to the challenge,” Men’s Golf Coach Steve Bruce said.
Juniors Christian Barber and Jack McKay lead the way for the Panthers with help from newcomers to the varsity level, junior Trent Wright and sophomore Paxton Hulsey.
“I was extremely excited going into the tournament because of all the long hours I had spent practicing to preparing for this moment,” Hulsey said. “What I need to work on now is staying mentally strong and focusing on one shot at a time.”
The Men’s Varsity Team placed 5th in the first tournament of the school year after dropping in the back nine and are now preparing to play at Bentwater Country Club on Oct. 26-27.
