Top artists, top songs, and minutes listened throughout the year are all wrapped up into one photo. Students have been anticipating the drop of Spotify Wrap, which summarizes their top music of the year, since last year’s drop.
“My Spotify wrapped contained Drake, Ken Carson, and Travis Scott as the top three artists,” senior Carsyn Cunningham said. “These three rappers hold a special place in my heart because their music is just very hard-hitting and never makes me stop thinking.”
Many find it interesting to see how their music taste has evolved since the year prior.
“Although I love Drake, who was my number one, SZA has been my top artist by a lot for the past three years,” junior Hannah Ogunmola said. “I will forever be a SZA fan and I can’t believe I broke my streak. I also love Drake but SZA is my number one.”
There have also been many debates on whether or not the Wrap is an accurate representation of the year.
“I think my top five is very accurate and each artist shows a different time during my life,” junior Haylie Nget said. “Looking back at different months just makes me realize how much I’ve changed over the years.”
According to USA Today, the top song for the year was Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’ with just over 1.6 billion streams. Other favorite songs according to Spotify were Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s duet ‘Die With A Smile’, Billie Eilish’s ‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER’, Benson Boone’s ‘Beautiful Things’, Teddy Swims’ ‘Lose Control’ and Chappell Roan’s ‘Good Luck, Babe!’.
The top artist of the year was Taylor Swift with 26.6 billion streams globally. Other top artists were The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake, and Billie EIlish.
“Drake was one of my top artists and I listen to him a lot because he has a lot of different types of singing,” senior Diego Magueyal said. “He can be listened to in a lot of ways like from being calm or to getting ready for a baseball game.”
