Creative Writing students, senior Helen Casadiego Colmenarez and junior Claire Hunt type away while taking notes on what makes a great story to enhance future work. “Just being in a class with others who share the same interest in writing, I feel that I’ve improved my writing style through listening to their stories,” Hunt said. “It’s a very engaging class that forces me to think of new ideas and expand my capability of writing beyond its comfort zone.” The course is urged for those who are looking for an artistic outlet on campus.

Juniors Marrisa Chacon, Cate Singletary and Avery Samuel are competitive members of the Klein Oak chapter of DECA and are thrilled to be advancing to the state competition. “We presented a business plan about employee engagement," Singletary said. Students who take various business classes are encouraged to become involved in DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) to have opportunities to build their resumes and earn honor cords by competing for local, state and national business-related contests.

This is so Allison Wallace, the dual credit counselor, can approve the student for the courses they will list and to make sure that student’s parents are aware of the college level courses.
