Community Service Club: Interact Sets First Meeting

As e-sports become more competitive in the U.S. and colleges are offering scholarships to their e-athletes, clubs like the E-Sports Club are popping up in high schools as well.

Military Brats Bond

This year’s homecoming king and queen are Slade Reese and Jessica Torres. “When they announced my name I felt an insane rush of adrenaline,” Reese said. “Hearing all my friends cheer me on as they placed the crown on my head was the coolest experience I’ve had to date. I was so happy watching my best friend get crowned next to me.”

When preparing for the Lunar New Year’s festival, Kai-Lin Hsu sets this table spread with her mom. “We make different foods to celebrate traditional Chinese beliefs,” Hsu said. “The fish in the photo means ‘year-after-year’ which is a Chinese idiom for ‘harmony’ for the new year. The different foods in the photo are braised pork with preserved vegetables, prawns with eggplant sauce, cold noodles, steamed fish, duck with beer, fried corn carrots, braised greens, and fish head casserole.”

Making smoothies, Zia Hooda, Zofia Hooda and Alana Trotman represent DECA at their group's carnival booth. DECA club sold smoothies from Tropical Cafe, and gave out buy one, get one coupons. Their flavor options were Strawberry or Mango Pineapple.

Impactful Breakthrough

Learning to use gear ratio, speed and torque during the 5th period Tractor Pull project, Hamza Syed controls a robot tractor with enough torque to pull the weighted trailer across the line within seven seconds.

After missing only one question on the PSAT, Sid Sinnabhadti receives a certificate from Prinicpal Thomas Hensley, recognizing him as a Semi-Finalist for the PSAT scholarships.

The Food and Drug Administration and federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that teen vaping in the US had grown to epidemic levels due to advertising. Since 2019, the companies producing and marketing the product have been forced to avoid targeting teen buyers to stay in compliance with state and federal laws prohibiting the use of the products by minors.
