Community Service Club: Interact Sets First Meeting

As e-sports become more competitive in the U.S. and colleges are offering scholarships to their e-athletes, clubs like the E-Sports Club are popping up in high schools as well.

Military Brats Bond

This year’s homecoming king and queen are Slade Reese and Jessica Torres. “When they announced my name I felt an insane rush of adrenaline,” Reese said. “Hearing all my friends cheer me on as they placed the crown on my head was the coolest experience I’ve had to date. I was so happy watching my best friend get crowned next to me.”

In addition to games and food choices, several fine arts groups like jazz band, the Klein Oak Break Crew and mariachi perform. Sophomore Everett Tucker, senior Owen Perrier and junior Owen Tunnell work a set for the lunch crowd.

With the new technology ban on personal devices, freshmen Kennedy Furguson, Peyton Lewis, Vanesa Morillo, Ashton Mazon, Jordyn Dixon, and Brooklyn Rambin spend time catching up with each other during their lunch since phones are not allowed between 7:04 a.m. 2:35 p.m.

Taking Technology to Another Dimension

When preparing for the Lunar New Year’s festival, Kai-Lin Hsu sets this table spread with her mom. “We make different foods to celebrate traditional Chinese beliefs,” Hsu said. “The fish in the photo means ‘year-after-year’ which is a Chinese idiom for ‘harmony’ for the new year. The different foods in the photo are braised pork with preserved vegetables, prawns with eggplant sauce, cold noodles, steamed fish, duck with beer, fried corn carrots, braised greens, and fish head casserole.”
