Paid student clerk positions available for 2021 early voting
With local elections around the corner, elections administrator offices call for civil-minded students for the Nov. 2 and Oct. 18 elections to apply for paid staff positions.
“The program did not start at KO,” counselor Cindy Butler said. “Staff here at Oak received an email from Harris County about this opportunity for our students.”
As a clerk worker, people are required to attend training to organize as well as distribute ballots along with many other tasks. Benefits of working as a clerk include getting paid $17 an hour and being able to gain experience of serving the community.
The priority deadline for applications ends Friday, Sept. 10 and is open to students 16 and older. Students that make this deadline are able to choose a location close to them and will have first pick in training classes. The final deadline for applications is Friday, Oct. 8.
