Fall is the time of year in Texas where it can be 32 degrees in the morning and 75 degrees by 3 p.m. Despite rising temperatures outside, Texans love their coffee any time of day. Honestly, who cares when you get a coffee? That’s why they offer both cold and hot varieties. Fall is the perfect time for coffee shops to begin their new line of fall flavors and I get that warm fuzzy feeling in my heart as I fall in love with coffee.
As a person who’s highly dependent on caffeine, coffee is always a must in my household. It may not be what everyone likes, but it puts me in that fall mood. Since getting the same drink over and over again can bore people, I decided to taste test the most popular fall flavors from local coffee shops to see which ones are the best.
7 Brew (Iced Pumpkin Blondie)
When I heard about all the new fall flavors, I knew I had to try my local 7 Brew. They offer many options such as Pumpkin Roll, Pumpkin Blondie Magic, Pumpkin Breve, Apple Cider Delight, and White Chocolate Chai. I got a small iced Pumpkin Blondie – the first sip was delightful and fall-like. But, after I finished my drink, its flavor was dying down. It didn’t have the lasting pumpkin flavor I would have liked. Overall I’d rate it a 3 out of 5.
Dutch Bros (Cookie Butter Latte)
Dutch Bros is highly underrated for their great prices and amazing flavors. They are willing to make anything sugar free and taste fantastic. Their fall flavors consist of the returning Caramel Pumpkin Brulee, Cookie Butter Latte, and the new Candied Cherry Rebel. I ordered the Cookie Butter Latte and it was heavenly; it was so creamy and flavorful. The flavor never died down from the beginning to the end. Overall I’d rate it a 5 out of 5.
Starbucks (Pumpkin Cream Chai)
Starbucks is widely known for their consistent fall flavors and their cozy feel of drinks. This year they have the returning Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai, Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte, alongside a new drink called Pecan Oatmilk Cortado. I tried both the Pumpkin Cream Chai and the Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte. I got a grande PSL with light ice and it was extremely flavorful and smelling like the first sip of fall for the entire experience. Overall I’d rate the PSL a 5 out of 5.
Dunkin (Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte)
Dunkin is known for collaborating with Basket Robins and their 31 different ice cream flavors. They don’t offer much for the fall time but their Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte was pretty mediocre. The flavor was powerful with spices, cinnamon, and pumpkin from the beginning, the further I got into the drink the more bland it tasted. Overall I’d rate it a 2 out of 5.
Although these aren’t all of the coffee shops in the Klein area, these are the ones that are the most popular with differentiated flavors. While I was tasting these amazing coffees I was looking for something that tasted like pumpkins, cinnamon, sweet, and creamy. They all showed up and showed out!
Thankfully, the majority of the coffee shops have a mobile order option. I prefer ordering ahead when driving to school in the morning, but if you’re staying for a quick study break I would highly encourage you to order in store. The smell of coffee helps me wind down and relax after a long day at school and the options are endless.
