Decisions from colleges and universities are handed out as early as November, with most regular decisions coming out in February or April. This eaves time for students to make their final decisions by the end of May.

When preparing for the Lunar New Year’s festival, Kai-Lin Hsu sets this table spread with her mom. “We make different foods to celebrate traditional Chinese beliefs,” Hsu said. “The fish in the photo means ‘year-after-year’ which is a Chinese idiom for ‘harmony’ for the new year. The different foods in the photo are braised pork with preserved vegetables, prawns with eggplant sauce, cold noodles, steamed fish, duck with beer, fried corn carrots, braised greens, and fish head casserole.”
