Volleying to Victory
Our Lady Panthers are dominating the volleyball court this year and last week alone they had 3 District games, against our biggest rivals. The team is excited to showcase their new strategies they’ve been working hard on.
On Tuesday night, September 12th, Klein Oak’s Volleyball team had a clean sweep against Klein Forest. Varsity played Memorial High School on September 14th and to tie up the week, they are up against Klein High School on that Friday. With District games already here, the Volleyball team is focused on improving from last year’s season. The coach is full of hope as the team is working hard and focusing on teamwork.
“We’ve got a quality set of athletes that are all working together… which is going to help us be very successful.” Coach Mewis stated.
Volleyball seasons starts as early as the beginning week in August and had a game on August 8th at Cypress Falls. The girls on Volleyball have been working out and running before school has even begun. This year, one of Coach Mewis’ goal is to make it past Round 2 in District games.
“We are a very dedicated team and we strive for the best. Our chemistry will be what takes us a long way.” Varsity player, Brooke Borden said.
Practice is crucial to the any team’s success. Depending on where the team is during that season will vary their routines in practice. Currently, they are focusing on team oriented activates to help them achieve their goals. Not only does this team focus on their mental state of mind but also their physical appearance to bring out endurance for a possibility of 5 games in one night. With no stopping to prepare themselves for the rest of districts, they will accomplish a lot this season.
According to Zoe Mears, Volleyball Manager she sees the team, “Working so hard to get better and better every day and cannot wait to see how far the team will go this season.”
