Fans of inventive summer fun can now rejoice as the 5th season of Phineas and Ferb is right around the corner. P&F originally aired from 2007 to 2015 and was known for its creative and especially unique humor. The show was consistent with its plot which fans were fond of. The brothers Phineas and Ferb would create wacky inventions to spice up the summer for them and their friends, their pet platypus would sneak away -completing secret spy missions behind their backs, and their sister Candace would consistently attempt to “bust” them. This tried and true formula kept viewers wanting more; and now after nine years, the series is back, releasing its premier episode June 6 on Disney+ and a day earlier on the Disney Channel.
The plot that watchers have grown to expect is most certainly going to be prevalent in this season with some updated qualities. Animation and pacing will most likely be upgraded -keeping the charm of the originals while still progressing for the viewing experience. The original voice acting cast is making a return with Vincent Martella, Ashley Tisdale, and Dan Povenmire as Phineas, Candance, and Dr. Doofenshmirtz, respectfully. From the many teasers and promotional videos of the return, the voice acting roles seem secure and untampered with even throughout the years of its absence. The changes shouldn’t be too jarring especially for those that have seen recent spin-off material, such as the “Candace Against the Universe” film that released in 2020 or “Milo Murphy’s Law” which aired in 2016. The animation and pacing will most likely resemble these projects of which I am not opposed to.

Season 5 is already looking promising after a nine minute sneak peek was released on the Disney Channel Animation Youtube channel. It feels just like a classic episode of Phineas and Ferb with its chaotic energy and fast-paced jokes. The character interactions as well as the overall dialogue feel natural and normal. It also features a full-length song that bears resemblance to many other P&F songs. “Summer is Starting Right Now” brought me back to the tunes of the first four seasons as it is very similar in its cheery vibe and upbeat nature.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newgen discovering it for the first time, Season 5 of Phineas and Ferb is sure to be an enjoyable watch and addition to the series.
