With the heavily anticipated Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in the coming months, high schoolers get the chance to highlight their art to the entire Houston area in what is sure to be a week jam-packed with music sensations from all over the country coming to put on a show.
However, the struggle for high schoolers to get their art displayed is an arduous process that only the best artists in the area even have a chance to get into.
Nevertheless, Klein Oak’s very own, junior Josie Brewer, beat the ever-mounting odds and won the title of Best of Show for her sculpture “End of Trailride”, a piece that shines a spotlight on the old western concept of America.
The competition required each student to have a western-themed sculpture. Together with 70 other students, Brewer had her work cut out for her. She completed her art within one week and blew away the judges, setting herself up for success.
Besides being gifted the title Best of Show, Brewer also earned scholarship opportunities and a trophy for her hard work.
Brewer will get the golden opportunity to get her art displayed at the Hayloft Gallery from March 3rd through the 22nd.
