The Klein Oak athletics community gathered on the football field, Thursday, August 23 for Meet The Panthers night – an opportunity for parents and students to learn about and celebrate fall sports teams and programs.
In the past, this event was created for introducing the football and volleyball teams to get the season started up. However, Athletic Director Jason Glenn decided to change that initiative and include fall athletic teams and groups. This year, that group included the cross-country team, athletic trainers, cheerleaders, Strutters, ROTC, color guard, band and volleyball and football teams.
“This was the first time we had all programs involved. It’s not just about football and volleyball, but it’s about band, cross country, Strutters, and every program we have,” Glenn said. “We have a great amount of kids doing great things in these organizations, and they all deserved a little love.”
During the evening, Glenn gathered participants at the football field 50-yard line for a moment of prayer.
“This prayer was a good way for the community to come together and start the school year right, and this moment really defined that,” senior Taylor Chumley said.
Cheerleader Kenzie Anderson agreed. “It was a great event, because it was interactive for the community,” she said.
